India’s biggest reality show, Bigg Boss is back with its twelfth season with Salman Khan as its host. Bigg Boss is one of the most loved/hated but one of the most entertaining reality shows running in India. The last season left the audience expecting something bigger and better from the current season and looks like it’s not going to disappoint the viewers.
16th September marked the official premiere of Bigg Boss 12 on Colors TV. And while we are sure you enjoyed it as much as we did, here’s a quick recap of all the important highlights from the episode.
1. The theme of the season
Yes, the theme of this season as announced at the press conference in Goa is ‘Jodis’ and has most contestants in pairs and a few solo entries! Karanvir Bohra, Dipika Kakr Ibrahim, Nehha Pendse, Srishty Rode, and Sree Santh came in solo. The ones who came in pairs included the guru-student jodi – Anup Jalota and Jasleen Matharu, the lawyer-policeman pair – Romil Chaudhary and Nirmal Singh, the opposite BFFs – Sourabh Patel and Shivashish Mishra, the Dabangg sisters – Somi Khan and Saba Khan and Gangs of Wasseypur singer and his fan – Deepak Thakur and Urvashi Vani.
2. The Special Welcome
It is Bigg Boss, so expecting surprises and/or shocks is kind of a given. This year many contestants entered the house with a special welcome. While Karanvir and Somi had to face a cannon, Shivashish was locked in a room with mechanical fists punching him well… everywhere! That wasn’t it, Deepak and Urvashi got locked in a giant-sized birdcage until the next contestant to enter the show released them.
3. The Shocking Confession
Most of you are out there thinking that Bigg Boss hasn’t even properly begun… Oh, but it has! It was during the premiere episode itself that Guru-student jodi, Anup and Jalseen confessed to being more than that. The show was the duo’s way of making their secret relationship and I won’t lie, it sure left my jaw wide-open!
4. Salman’s Reveals His Bigg Boss House Partner
It was during the show that Bigg Boss 11 winner, Shilpa Shinde asked Salman that considering the theme of the show, who’s the one actress he’d like to have as his partner. The actor quipped with his Dabangg co-star, Sonakshi Sinha‘s name and also mentioned that Jacquline Fernandez and Rani Mukerji would make great jodidaars too.
5. Rubina Dilaik’s Special Performance
Rubina Dilaik made a special performance with her friend and contestant of the show, Srishti. The Television actresses and close friends danced to Kamariya and left everyone awestruck!

Like I said, twists and turns are kinda what Bigg Boss loves. At the beginning of the show, Salman introduced four contestants who had already taken over Bigg Boss’ outhouse only to reveal that by the end of the show only two would stay on the show. Kriti Verma–Surbhi Rana and Roshmi Banik–Mital Joshi entered the outhouse as jodis but India passed its verdict and Kriti-Roshmi entered the main Bigg Boss house as partners.
6. Sree Santh’s Wife’s Hilarious Request
Sreesanth has had a lot of negative reports surrounding him for his aggression on the field a while but the cricketer confessed to leaving aggression out of the show. His wife was also present on the show and along with all her advice to him, she has a request too. Yep, the only thing that his wife insisted on him not doing was going bald or in her words, “Bass talkla mat hona!”

It is not new for the contestants to express their love and admiration for Salman on the show. The same thing happened with Nehha as she requested Salman to recreate a romantic scene with her. It turned out to be cute and funny (courtesy, Salman) at the same time.
8. The Bigg Band
Last but not the least, Bigg Boss 12 will feature a band called, The Bigg Band and will make an appearance every week. This new addition to the show may not add to the drama but will certainly up the entertainment quotient, right?
So there you have all the interesting highlights from the first episode of Bigg Boss 12 that kept us hooked. Also, ICYMI, it was just a few days ago that the makers of Bigg Boss 12 arranged for a press conference in Goa, announcing the launch of Bigg Boss 12. It was at this event that Salman introduced Bharti Singh and Harsh Limbachiyaa as the first celebrity contestant jodi but they didn’t turn up on the show. Turns out, they were never meant to, reports in Indian Express suggest that it was only done to create a buzz around the show.
Bigg Boss is one show that always managed to leave its audience entertained with each episode. The show has successfully created a huge fanbase for itself over the last 11 seasons and is back with its 12th one along with a lot more drama. I am psyched about watching Bigg Boss 12. What about you?
