I happened to watch Stree last night and it’s safe to say I loved the film. Part of what I really admired in the film is the authenticity with which they’ve shown the town of Chanderi. Today, I got to know that the entire movie was shot in the small town in Madhya Pradesh and turns out Stree was the first Bollywood film to be ever shot there. The makers of the movie required a rustic, rooted vibe to it, for which this simple town was the perfect fit for. They have captured the beautiful forts and temples of the town and have even explored some of the spooky ruins in and around the town. (PS: Apparently, one such ruin they shot at was actually rumoured to be haunted). The movie captures the town as it is, without adding the Bollywood masala or colours that you usually see in Hindi films and the town itself is an integral part of the story. If you’ve seen the trailer, the narrow lanes that you see are the quaint streets of Chanderi.
Check it out.
Spooky right?
There are various scenes were Rajkummar Rao, Aparshakti Khurrana and Abhishek Banerjee seen loitering around the streets. And many other scenes of Raj and Shraddha Kapoor in the famous temples and forts in town.
Like I said, I watched Stree last night, so if you want an honest review of it, read it here.
