This Sunday is Raksha Bandhan! And it’s time to meet your sibling and tie the traditional Rakhi. This festival celebrates the bond between siblings. On this day, the family cooks some traditional food like aloo puri, dahi bhalla and mithais. If you wanna do some special for your sibling, why not cook up a nice halwa for them? Vidhi Doshi a.k.a Ramen Haired Girl gives us a recipe for pineapple halwa that’s super easy to make at home. Here it is.
What You’ll Need
1 cup rava (semolina/Suji)
1 1/4 cup roughly chopped pineapple
1/2 – 3/4 cup sugar (1/2 cup if you don’t want it to be that sweet)
A pinch saffron strands
Pinch of cardamom powder (elaichi)
Crushed dry fruits
Here’s How You Can Put It All Together
Step 1
Blend the pineapple pieces in a blender till it forms a smooth purée. Strain using a sieve to remove the pieces or chunks remaining. Keep it aside.
Step 2
Heat 2 cups of water in a pan, add saffron to it and let it get hot.
Step 3
Meanwhile, heat the ghee in a non-stick pan, add the rava and roast on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes or till it’s started emitting an aroma. Keep stirring it continuously to avoid the formation of any lumps.
Step 4
Add the pineapple purée, sugar and saffron water to the rava and mix well. Cook this on a low-medium flame for 2 minutes, while stirring continuously.
Step 5
Cook on a low-medium flame for 8 more minutes and keep on stirring it continuously. Turn off the heat, garnish with crush dry fruits and serve warm!
Wasn’t that super easy? Do try this at home on Raksha Bandhan and tell us how it turned out!
