It is the legendary actress Sridevi‘s 55th birthday today. While Bollywood fans all over the world are still reeling under the shock of her passing a few months ago, Mumbai decided to pay their respects to the late actress in this way. The walls of several buildings in the bylanes of Bandra are filled with larger than life paintings of famous Bollywood stars. Amitabh Bachchan, Amrish Puri, Dev Anand, and Madhubala are just some of the stars that adorn the streets. A new and worthy addition to these legends is everyone’s favourite Sridevi. She will be seen on Chapel road immortalised in an 18ft mural on the wall next to Madhubala.
Check it out.
According to Mid-Day, finishing touches were being made to the mural yesterday, which is a look of hers from the movie Gurudev. The wall painting is part of Ranjit Dahiya‘s Bollywood Art Project. What’s more? Sridevi ji also loved to paint, in fact, pictures of her painting of Sonam Kapoor had gone viral a few years ago. Apparently, she also used to love making portraits of Michael Jackson, who she was a huge fan of.
If this is so, a mural of hers was probably the best way to remember her. I’m sure as people pass through the streets of Bandra, they will look up and remember the legend for who she was, a true superstar.
The mural will be unveiled today on her 55th birthday.
