We rarely come across someone who doesn’t like to watch movies. Whether they’re intense, scary, romantic or funny, movies have always been a part of our lives. They’ve taught us a lot and even animated movies we watched as kids helped in shaping our personalities in some way. We love a bunch of Hollywood directors who’ve created some serious masterpieces and when we speak about masterpieces, we’ve gotta include the cinematic genius— Christopher Nolan. For all those who don’t know who we’re talking about, Nolan is a fabulous director who specialises in making movies that keep you at the edge of your seat. Such brilliant direction and even better treatment make his work stand out. He’s been in the movie industry for over 20 years now and brings a refreshing change with every movie he directs. His first ever movie was a short film he directed in 1997 called Doodlebug. Also, did you know that his movies only use 5% of VFX (visual effects)? Doesn’t seem like that right? Well here are a few movies that prove he’s pure genius!
1. Doodlebug (1997)
This short film blew our mind. It’s about this man who lives in a shabby apartment and is trying to squish a bug-like creature. After a bit, he realises that this creature is a small version of himself that he squashes. And the camera pans out to an even bigger version of himself who will do the exact same thing. Absolutely brilliant!
2. The Prestige (2006)
This movie is about two rival magicians that always try to out-do each other and eventually prepare for the ultimate magic trick.
3. The Dark Knight (2008)
One of my personal favourites. I even loved The Dark Knight Rises, but this particular movie was really gripping. The brilliant Heath Ledger played the Joker and did a fabulous job at it. This movie is about how the Joker creates havoc in Gotham city and Batman has to make some serious choices to save the city.
4. Interstellar (2014)
Brilliant on so many levels! The story is about the earth that’s about hit something of an apocalypse and some explorers travel through space to find resources for the planet to survive. We love his take on the different possible dimensions in the movie!
5. Inception (2010)
The movie is about a thief who steals big corporate secrets through dreams and now, he is hired to plant an idea in the mind of a CEO through his dreams.
6. Memento (2000)
A man is trying to find the murderer of his wife but suffers from short-term memory loss. Who would have thought of such a concept?
7. Dunkirk (2017)
The movie focused on the Dunkirk evacuation which is also referred as the Miracle of Dunkirk because they managed to evacuate allied soldiers from the harbour of Dunkirk despite being surrounded by German troops.
If you haven’t watched any of these movies, we recommend you binge-watch these all day. So, take a day off, load up on popcorn and enjoy! Tell us your favourite in the comments below!
