It’s as if Ryan Reynolds can’t do anything wrong! Well, except for a few movie choices obviously. That being said, this man is like a gift that keeps on giving and by that, we mean on the comedy front. We literally can’t get enough of him and lucky for us, we’re going to be getting a lot more. Recent news is that Twentieth Century Fox has set up a new comedy project called Stoned Alone. Sound familiar? Well, that’s because this movie aims to be an R-rated version of everyone’s favourite movie, Home Alone.
As of now, Ryan is only reportedly producing it, but we’re pretty sure this has his name written all over it for the main lead. For the director, Fox has signed Augustine Frizzell who has also directed the comedy movie Never Goin’ Back. Reynolds will produce through his Fox-based Maximum Effort production company and Maximum Effort’s George Dewey will be an executive producer. This won’t be the first time Reynolds has stepped into the producer’s shoes. His previous movies involve the Deadpool movies, both of which were a major worldwide phenomenon.
Apparently, the script is said to centre around a 20-something loser who misses the plane for his holiday ski trip and gets high at home, only to discover that thieves have broken into his house. Basically, it’s like the Home Alone sequel we always wanted. While the whole project is really early in development, it’s pretty evident that this is going to be a super hit. Especially because of how much we all love the Home Alone series.
For this one though, let’s just hope they manage to get done with everything before Disney takes over them! Yes, that’s actually a thing but that’s a story for another day. In the meanwhile, we’d love your thoughts about this news. Are you excited? Let us know in the comments below.
