You know when a random person goes and files a case against an actor for a line his fictional character has said in a film. You know, like how someone filed a case against Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma for ‘demeaning’ sex workers in Sanju? Turns out, it’s happened again. But this time with Nawazuddin Siddiqui for his popular TV show Sacred Games.
It’s hardly been a week since India’s first ever original Netflix series, Sacred Games released and it’s already hitting controversies. The show has an ample amount of violence, nudity, foul language- basically the recipe to make any good offense taker’s head turn. But, a complaint has been filed against Nawazuddin and the producers of the show for insulting the former Congress Prime Minister, Rajeev Gandhi.
Rajiv Sinha, a Congress member in West Bengal, wrote a letter to Kolkata Police on the matter. He accused the makers of abusing the late Prime Minister by calling him fattu, which was translated to pussy in the subtitle. He also said that the makers of the series had misrepresented facts during Rajeev Gandhi’s tenure.
Well… we guess it’s just another day for a B-Town star to get slapped with an FIR, no?
