If you have just taken a step into the world of makeup, then let us welcome you with open arms! Makeup isn’t just a tool to cover up what you want, but also a beautiful way to express your creativity. However, we know that it’s often difficult to navigate yourself through the myriad of products available. Thus, we’ve curated a list of 7 types of items that are easy to use, but still pack a punch! Read on see each one.
1. Tinted Moisturisers Or BB Creams
Foundation can be a tricky thing to work with and generally requires the use of makeup sponges or brushes. If you are just starting out, opt for a tinted moisturiser or BB cream to create a smooth and even base. Since they are sheerer and more lightweight, they blend easily and can be layered for additional coverage. Remember to extend the colour down your neck so that you get a natural look.

2. Concealer Sticks
Whether it’s an annoying zit or dark circles, a concealer is the best way to camouflage any skin issue. The sticks are super easy to use and carry around for touch-ups. All you need to do is dot the formula on to the concerned areas and then buff the colour in with your fingers. If you feel comfortable enough, you can use a concealer brush to work the colour in. Plus, such concealers have a more tacky consistency, which allows them to stay put for a longer duration.

3. Eye Pencils
Unless you have a hand that’s as steady as a surgeon, don’t begin your journey with a liquid liner. Instead, use eye pencils to get the look you want. Use a sharpened one to get a neat wing, or diffuse the line of a blunt tip to give yourself a soft, smoky eye. Whilst most people opt for black or brown, feel free to play around with colours like green and blue. Metallic pencils are also a quick way to brighten up your eyes.

4. Curling Mascara
Scared of eyelash curlers? Skip them and opt for a curling mascara instead. The arched wand will give your lashes a little lift and curl, whilst the pigment will deepen the colour. The resultant look will open up your eyes and give you the flutter you desire.

5. Cream Blushes
Blushes are probably the most underrated makeup products out there. However, if used correctly, they really have the power to liven up your complexion. For a natural, flushed look, pat on a cream-based blush on to the apples of your cheeks. These formulas blend in seamlessly and leave just a hint of colour on your face. They are also easy to build up, so you can keep applying and blending until you are happy with the intensity.

6. Brow Gels
Over the past few years, brows have become the focal point of the makeup industry. From pomades to pencils, there are a ton of products you can choose from… but none are as easy to use as brow gels. Not only do the gels tint the hair on your brows, but also tame any unruly bits. In just a swipe or two, you can get the volume and depth you want, without any hassle at all.

7. Sheer Lipsticks
Matte lipsticks create quite a statement, but are extremely hard to wear. From bleeding lips to smudging, these lipsticks require commitment and time. Newbies should opt for sheer, creamy formulas instead since they are more forgiving. The standard choices are red, nude and rosy pinks, but it’s always fun to try out purple and orange lipstick too!
