Elton Fernandez is no new name in the Bollywood industry. He champions the art of hair and makeup with his sheer drive and charisma for all things beauty. He has had many A-list celebrities (including our bosslady MissMalini) as his canvas and enhanced their beauty ten folds. He is also an inspiration to anyone and everyone who yearns to live life on their own terms and not get bogged down by the societal pressures.
We got our hands on some really cool pictures from his latest shoot in which, wait for it… he turns into a model! For Ajio Style Tribe, Elton looks flawless in the latest collection of clothes from the label. His unique, unabashed personality brings so much depth to the designs and makes for an inspiring gender fluid styling guide. We caught up with the man of the hour and asked him a few questions:
1. How many years have you been in this industry?
I started makeup when I was 21. Moved to Bombay to pursue it as a career at the age of 23 and I’m now 37! It’s been one amazing journey.
2. Which celebs have you worked with so far?
Alia Bhatt, Sonam Kapoor, Juhi Chawla, Manisha Koirala, Nandita Das, Aditi Rao Hydari, P V Sindhu, Mary Kom and Mitali Raj. Apart from celebs, I have had the opportunity to work with the best publications, magazines, fashion houses and designers in the country.
3. How would you describe your personal style in three words?
Genderfluid, eclectic and moody.
4. What’s the most amazing thing about fashion according to you?
The power to affect change and influence culture.
5. Who’s your fashion icon?
Prince, Madonna, and Rihanna.
