Believe it or not, but a good set of brows can really change up your look. It can bring out your eye shape, frame your face and will make a great Instagram picture! Gone are the days where people want thin, sparse and the barely-there eyebrows. These days it’s all about maintaining that perfect arch, width and fuller, more natural-looking brows.
In finding the right way to grow out, tame or maintain your brows, there are a couple of mistakes that tend to get made along the way:
Mistake #1
Choosing a dark colour
Whether you fill your brows in with a pencil, powder or gel, never ever ever opt for a dark colour. Chances are that they’ll end up looking way too harsh and odd. Instead chose a shade slightly lighter or similar to your brow colour. So if your brows are jet black then opt for a brown shade to pencil them in.
Mistake #2
Trying to make them look identical
“Think of your brows as sisters and not twins.“—There’s a reason why this quote has been around for a while, and that’s because there’s a lot of truth to it. Your eyebrows, like your eyes cannot be identical, so it’s natural for them to look similar and not identical.
Mistake #3
Filling them in from the start
The worst thing you can do for your brows, is to fill them in from the start of the arch. If you start your application from the centre of your face, it can accentuate the brows in a place where it doesn’t need to be accentuated and that can make your eyes look angry. Instead, always start filling them in from the middle and extend to the outside corner. The left over gel or powder can then be gently used at the start.
Mistake #4
Having a heavy hand
When using brow definers like pencils or powders always make sure you don’t put too much pressure on your brows. Being heavy handed when filling your eyebrows can end up looking disastrous as extra product might look too strong and over empowering.
Mistake #5
Using tweezers all the time
Plucking your brows can start off with just a hair or two. But that can easily lead to over-plucking. Make sure you’re in control and only remove the excess hair or strands that need to be adjusted to bring our your natural brow shape.
