In our daily lives, we tend to come across a lot of people. Everywhere we go, we are introduced to new people. Some of the people we meet, leave a lasting impression and you feel like they need to be in your life. It’s funny how fast strangers can turn into friends. That being said, sometimes, we also end up letting toxic people enter our lives. Sometimes, it takes just one bad apple to spoil the entire barrel. Here are 7 types of toxic people you should try and avoid.
1. Manipulative People
At some point or the other, we’ve all had to deal with someone like this. A manipulative person is a pretty complex one. It’s often hard to see their true intentions and they disguise themselves as a great friend. They know everything you like and all the things that make you happy. All this information is used to manipulate you into doing something for them. They just want without giving anything in return and can be really scary to deal with.
2. Gossip Mongers
We’ve all been guilty of a little gossip every now and then. It’s not a bad thing unless that’s all you do. Gossip mongers are usually the reason for causing trouble and breaking things apart. While sometimes they just can’t help but word vomit, most of the times they enjoy causing problems. It might seem fun to get all the latest gossip but just remember, they’re probably talking about you too.
3. Criticisers
We all need someone to keep us in check and give us honest feedback. Constructive criticism is the best form of criticism. However, there are those who criticise you just to break you down and make you feel worthless. These are the kind of people who need to be gone from your life ASAP. Good or bad, all they can see are your faults and they will constantly drag you down.
4. Self-Absorbed Pople
Vanity is a part of human nature. Some people, however, take it to a whole new level. Self-obsession is a genuine problem and these kinds of people are something you don’t need in your life. All they can see is themselves. Everything is about them and they usually won’t stop to think about something, if it benefits them.
5. Lazy People
Have you ever seen someone yawn and then suddenly found yourself yawning? It’s contagious. The same thing can be said about lazy people. While there is nothing wrong with taking a break or slowing things down, being lazy all the time is something that will never benefit anyone. Lazy people drag down the atmosphere and their “don’t give a f**k” attitude can usually rub off in all the wrong ways.
6. Overly Negative People
People who are extremely negative are one of the most toxic kinds of people to have around. They have a way of making everything darker and cold. You can try your best to show them a more positive way, however, they have a way of turning that around too.
7. Envious People
These are the type of people who are jealous of all your achievements, happiness, success and anything good that happens in your life. They are superficial people and they measure happiness by materialistic standards. They will do anything to make sure there is no one better than them. Spending too much time with envious people is dangerous because they teach you to underestimate your own endeavours.
