Boy, are we glad the line between mainstream and so-called Indie films are blurring out? And one of the main reasons for that is the actors of today. One such force to reckon with is Rasika Dugal! While she left us impressed with her debut in Anwar back in 2007, she’s created a niche of her own and grown leaps and bounds after that. She’s someone who’s never been afraid to experiment with different mediums and has been successful at it. More recently, she was seen in Manto alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Tahir Raj Bhasin.
Manto was screened at Cannes this year under the ‘Uncertain Regard ‘ category and received a whole lot of positive reviews from the audience and critics alike. Rasika even revealed that she was super pumped and excited that it was chosen for this specific category.
We went and deep dove into her Instagram too!
To our delight, she had a whole lot to say about the digital enlightenment that’s happening in the entertainment industry.
The digital space opening up in this way is definitely pushing the boundaries of content. And giving an opportunity to filmmakers and writers to experiment with themes which otherwise might not have seen the light of day.
She further added this is actually opening up the space for new talent.
As an actor, it’s a delight to work with such interesting material. And also an absolute joy to watch my work reach a wide audience. My short film ‘ Chutney’ has over 120 million views today and just that thought is so encouraging.
We can’t wait to see you in more films and web series, Rasika! Keep on surprising us!
