The best way for us to destress is to watch movies and TV shows. We’re all movie buffs, aren’t we? And we all have our own favourite genres that we enjoy. Whether it’s comedy, horror, romantic or dramatic movies, we love them all. Today, we’ve got you a list of movies from the ’80s that are so iconic, we still watch them every time we get a chance. We’ve also added a few fun facts about these movies you probably didn’t already know. Here they are.
1. Top Gun (1986)
Fun Fact: Tom Cruise would sit far away from the rest of the cast in between takes to stay in character.
2. Scarface (1983)
Fun Fact: Al Pacino asked the director of photography to speak to him only in Spanish so he could stay in character.
3. Dirty Dancing (1987)
Fun Fact: Patrick Swayze had to convince Jennifer Grey to be in this film because she had disliked him so much while filming Red Dawn.
4. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984)
Fun Fact: Kate Capshaw didn’t know how to scream. She was taught to do so while filming.
5. Ghostbusters (1984)
Fun Fact: Almost none of the scenes were filmed as scripted and, in fact, almost all of the scenes had at least one or two ad-libs. Most of Bill Murray‘s lines were improvised.
6. The Terminator (1984)
Fun Fact: Arnold Schwarzenegger tried to avoid Linda Hamilton and Michael Biehn as much as possible since the Terminator was trying to kill them, not form connections.
7. Back To The Future (1985)
Fun Fact: The script was rejected forty-four times before it was finally approved.
8. E.T: The Extra-Terrestrial (1982)
Fun Fact: Steven Spielberg stated confirmed that E.T. was a plant-like creature and it wasn’t a male or female.
9. The Shining (1980)
Fun Fact: To make Jack Nicholson angry, he was only fed cheese sandwiches for two weeks, which he hates.
10. Die Hard (1988)
Fun Fact: The scene where Bruce Willis and Alan Rickman meet up was unrehearsed to create a greater feeling of spontaneity between the two actors.
