Revisiting Our Favourite Madhuri Dixit Songs On Her Birthday!

Priyanka Parmar

Madhuri Dixit is the epitome of grace, charm and poise and she is also one of my absolute favourites. If you’re a 90s kid obsessed with Bollywood then I am sure you have fawned over Madhuri’s acting and beauty as much as I have. Her million-dollar smile and graceful dance moves have made us fall in love with her over and over again. That’s why I am listing down songs that will make you want to get up and dance:

Dhak Dhak
I’ve liked this song forever, even when I was too young to understand what was going on in it (Hello, parents?! What were you thinking?), I just loved how beautiful Madhuri looked. It slowly made a place on my ‘Madhuri favourites’ over time and isn’t going anywhere now.

Didi Tera Devar Deewana
Come on! What’s not to love in this song? The teasing, the fun, tonnes of chemistry and of course Madhuri in that iconic saree.

Tu Shayar Hai
She looked like a stunning poem herself in this song.

Mera Piya Ghar Aaya
The energy in this song was on another level.

Ankhiyaan Milaoon
Ah! My Friday… correction… everyday jam at one point.

Chane Ke Khet Mein
This used to be my ‘beta dance karke dikhao’ song.

Kay (Que) Sera Sera
So was this!

Maar Dala
I was a teenager with no idea what longing and heartache even felt like but Madhuri’s expressions spoke volumes and I was in awe.

Dola Re Dola
This one was a top choice for two straight years at every wedding function. Do you remember how many times you’ve danced to it? – I know, too many!

Pyar Kar
Uff! This one was the ‘I am in love’ indicator back in the day. Yup, let that blush creep up your cheeks.

Aaja Nachle
Madhuri’s comeback film. <3 I am not ashamed to admit that I know all the steps by heart from this one, I am actually kinda proud too.

Ghagra
I think we’ve already established that I love Madhuri but I also have a major crush on Ranbir Kapoor. So, yes, I could dance to this song at a sangeet, a Bollywood night, an after-party, an after-after party. Hell, I’d jog to this song… if I ever went jogging that is.

Ek Do Teen
I was saving the best for the last. Nothing. Absolutely nothing comes close to this. It has been three decades since the song first came out, long before I came into existence… fir bhi nahi dil se gaya iska pyaar! Somethings can’t be recreated, this song is one of them. Too much? Well, too much it is then.

Here’s wishing you a very happy birthday, Madhuri! Keep smiling that stunning smile of yours.

These are just a few of my favourite Madhuri songs… Tell me yours in the comments below!
