Remember the times you got home from school, and before you even changed your school uniform, you’d start your television set to watch your favourite animated TV show? We used to love binge-watching so many cartoon shows. It was such a great stress-buster before exams, and also a major distraction during study-time. Let’s take a walk down memory lane, shall we? Here is a list of shows you may have watched and loved in the ’90s.
1. The Jetsons (1962)
Fun Fact: The design of the Jetsons‘ flying car was inspired by a 1954 Ford concept car, the FX-Atmos, notable for its all-glass bubble canopy, dashboard radar screen, and jet-plane-like tailfins.
2. The Flintstones (1960)
Fun Fact: Fred Flintstone and Wilma Flintstone were the first married couple, ever (in animation), to be seen actually in bed together on US television.
3. Dexter‘s Laboratory (1996)
Fun Fact: Dexter’s last name was never revealed.
4. Ducktales (1987)
Fun Fact: The series TaleSpin (1990) was originally intended to be a Duck Tales spin-off featuring Launchpad, hence the word ‘Tale’ in the title of that series.
5. The Powerpuff Girls (1998)
Fun Fact: Sara Bellum is named after the cerebellum, probably in reference to her job as the ‘brains’ of the mayor’s occupation and city operations.
6. Hey Arnold! (1996)
Fun Fact: Arnold’s teacher Mr. Simmons is homosexual according to the show’s creators.
7. Johnny Bravo (1997)
Fun Fact: Johnny Bravo is based on Elvis Presley. The city where Johnny Bravo lives is Aaron City, that was named after Elvis Presley’s middle name, Aron.
8. Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! (1970)
Fun Fact: Shaggy‘s real name is Norville.
9. SpongeBob SquarePants (1999)
Fun Fact: To create SpongeBob’s distinctive laugh, Tom Kenny hits his throat with his hand repeatedly while saying, ‘Ahh’.
10. Talespin (1990)
Fun Fact: Jim Cummings did the most male voices for the show with nearly 40 different voices in all.
11. The Addam’s Family (1993)
Fun Fact: John Astin who voices Gomez Addams in this family, had played Gomez in the original The Addams Family (1964) series.
12. Captain Planet And The Planeteers (1990)
Fun Fact: Tom Cruise originally agreed to provide the voice for Captain Planet. He backed out at the last second, for an unknown reason.
