The entire nation has been in a state of shock, anger and distress ever since the Kathua Rape Case and its horrific details came to light. Multiple protests have taken place all over the country, with public demanding justice for Asifa – the 8-year-old girl victim, who lost her life. Several Bollywood celebrities have also come forward to condemn the gruesome act. But when Amitabh Bachchan was asked about the issue, he responded saying:
Even discussing this issue feels disgusting, don’t bring up this issue. It is terrible to even talk about it.
Amitabh’s statement evoked a strong reaction from many on social media. Actress-director Pooja Bhatt, who’s known for her bold and outspoken personality, felt that Amitabh’s comment wasn’t in line with the feminist outlook he gained praise for during his film, Pink‘s promotion.
Pooja tweeted:
I can’t help being reminded of a film called #Pink. Can our images on screen please be reflected in reality? ? https://t.co/JHnc8PLDXY

And of course, trolls swarmed in to comment on her tweet. One particular troll even went on to call her an alcoholic trying to gain publicity out of it.
For those unaware, in 2016, Pooja had publically admitted to battling alcohol addiction while talking to Mumbai Mirror:
I was 45 and if I wanted to give myself 10 years of living, I had to quit now before I drank myself to the grave. I had to reclaim the sharper, brighter me, which had got watered down.
Not the one to keep mum, Pooja gave the troll a befitting reply.
A ‘recovering’ alcoholic & proud of it!In a country where people don’t even acknowledge they have a drinking problem, let alone discuss it I am grateful to stand away from the crowd that considers holding your frailties to light shameful. #485dayssober ?? pic.twitter.com/xDDFW0rD2j

Mahesh Bhatt also spoke in her support in his own andaaz:
Sach kehnay agar shouq hai tau
Tanha chalnay ka bhi housla rakhna..
Proud of you my child. https://t.co/RMGQwpIAG6— Mahesh Bhatt (@MaheshNBhatt) April 23, 2018
