This could finally be happening, you guys! A legit, big-budget adaptation of the epic Mahabharata is finally being made in India. This major project is being helmed by the best mind in the business – Aamir Khan and according to a Mid-Day report, billionaire Mukesh Ambani will be co-producing this ambitious project. This will be a ‘one-off’ thing for Mukesh Ambani as he not actively looking to produce films. But this undertaking will easily take nearly a decade of Aamir and Mukesh’s time.
The franchise, expected to be on the lines of the Lord Of The Rings trilogy, is likely to have three to five parts, helmed by different filmmakers. Rumours are rife that international writers will be flown in to give their storyline a global appeal. The making of this epic is apparently the reason Aamir dropped out of the Rakesh Sharma biopic which is reportedly now starring Shah Rukh Khan.
Aamir has planning to make the Mahabharata for a while now, and now it looks like his dream project is finally coming to fruition. Aamir has maintained that he finds Krishna and Karan to be the most interesting characters in the epic so we’re assuming he will take on the role of one of them.
