A picture like this from Alia Bhatt’s Instagram is making us itch to plan a trip to Bulgaria. Can you then imagine what watching a full-length movie will do to us?

There are movies that make you laugh and there are movies that make you cry. Then there are those that give you that extra push to pack your bags and finally go on that trip you’ve been postponing ever since you started your 9-6 job.

With Bollywood having nailed the process of making our favourite stars run, dance or stroll around paddy fields from Punjab to Switzerland ever since Sangam (It’s the first film to be shot abroad!), it’s no amateur when it comes to setting some serious #TravelGoals.

So here are some movies that are sure to inspire you to join the globetrotter club:

Tamasha

Tamasha sparked everyone’s ‘go anywhere, do anything’ fantasy, making it the ‘anywhere’ that everyone wants to be at. Each frame in this film is like a post-card, which made it the oh-so-perfect first time meet for Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone’s characters. The movie shows most of the Mediterranean island in its true glory- from its mountainous city streets and dense forests to glistening blue waters and rugged peaks. Add the scenic glory to the sizzling chemistry between Ved and Tara (Legit two strangers that meet in Corsica)… uff! I’m not packing my bags, are you? Okay…I may have considered buying a one-way ticket to Corsica.

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

Hrithik Roshan, Abhay Deol and Farhan Akhtar in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara made sure WE went along on a road trip around Spain with Arjun, Kabir, and Imraan too. Like any other quit-the-concrete-jungle-and-go-travel sort of movies, ZNMD had its share of picture-perfect locations alright, but what set this multi-starrer apart is the experience that the movie takes us through. Deep sea diving, skydiving, the Tomatino festival and the Bull Run – do you need anything more to pack your bags and go on an adventure trip of a lifetime?

Queen

Other than Kangana Ranaut’s amazing portrayal of Rani, Queen takes us on a journey across Paris and Amsterdam. Not only did Rani spark a traveler in every young Indian woman, it made traveling solo less of a big deal for us too! The movie sure teaches you that there’s more to life than finding a life partner – like traveling, meeting new people and experiencing new cultures. Who wouldn’t want to bump into a Vijaylakshmi in Paris or share a room with Taka, Tim, and Oleksander in Amsterdam? Count me in!

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Aside from the breathtaking scenes in Gulmarg, Europe and Udaipur, how many of you LOVED Bunny’s travel scrapbook? *Flailing my hands in the air*. Bunny’s ‘book of dreams’ is all sorts of #TravelScrapbookGoals, in fact, Ranbir’s character is a globetrotter in the true sense. His job profile in the film doesn’t hurt either, making it completely cool to travel around the world and party, I’d like one of those jobs, thanks! Not to mention the first half of the movie that makes you want to plan a trip with your friends to Manali almost immediately. This movie is sure to give you some major travel FOMO or at least make you search for a job like Bunny’s.

Highway

Stockholm Syndrom aside, Highway felt like a window seat bus ride with a view of North India- from plains to snow clad mountains. It takes us on a journey to the remote Sangla Valley in Himachal Pradesh, Aru Valley near Pahalgam and the plains of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Punjab. The movie really is a breath of fresh air, nudging us to pack our bags and go on a journey to find ourselves.  This is one picturesque movie that’s sure to give every backpacker itchy feet.

Dil Chahta Hai

Dil Chahta Hai is the best ad film that’s made and probably will ever be made for Goa. It’s only fair to say, the movie did Goa tourism a huge favor, turning Goa into the quintessential college road trip destination even today. As a bonus, the second half of the movie gives a good glimpse of Sydney too! It’s called a cult classic for a reason and giving us major road tripping goals is just one the many reasons!

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge is popular for having made us fall in love with Rahul and Simran in reel life and Shahrukh Khan and Kajol in real life. But what we also fell in love with was the lavish landscapes of Europe that the movie depicts so beautifully. The movie shows us how traveling can bring people closer to one another (Case in point: Rahul and Simran- Best Jodi foreva!). And looking at the number of Indians that visit Switzerland till date, I’d say DDLJ certainly has a hand in inspiring Indian travelers.
