We Spotted Bunnies On The Runway At AIFW

While we spotted some celebrity glam on the runway the first two days of fashion week, day 3 majorly focussed on eccentric fashion. Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn Winter ’18 had us comfortable in our fashion bubble yet made us witness some out-of-the-box creativity.

Designer Nida Mahmood showcased her collection—The Chillum Sisters, in which models traded their makeup for a bunny mask. The clothes featured some interesting techniques like Japanese Shibori Tieying and quirky digital printing. We still can’t get over the bunny masks!

Here are more eccentric things we noticed straight from the AIFW runway:

1. Aartivijay Gupta

The show was a beautiful journey of Gond tribal art from Madhya Pradesh. The collection translated the traditional art into easy silhouettes and wearable styles with a hope to revive and grow the Gond art.

2. Abhi Singh

The collection boasts of pieces like tailored boxy suits and wine jackets with gathers all around. Abhi Singh’s line is a modern day take on easy yet wearable art.

3. ILK

The collection called Offline urged us to disconnect and treasure the simple joys of life like a real face to face conversation than an emoji-heavy text chat. The collection emulates the same balance by translating khadi into an urban look.

4. Madhu Jain

Madhu Jain’s show started with a beautiful dance form from Manipur called Mridanga Kirtan or drum dance. The collection speculated a combination of weaves from different pageantry. Madhu Jain’s designs are known to make a mark in the sustainable fashion industry with clothing that makes the smallest carbon footprint. This show was truly inspiring!

5. Sonam Dubal

The collection named The Oracle reflected the rich heritage and craft through beadwork, block printing and woven textiles. It was such a treat to our eyes!

6. Tom Tailor

The high street label showcased some of the very wearable and trendy pieces from its collection that focussed on 3 diverse categories of the brand— Historic Romance, Bossgirl and Rock & Folk.

7. Liva Presents Anju Modi, Eshaa Amiin, Gaurav Jai Gupta, Shruti Sancheti, Wendell Rodricks and Nida Mahmood

Six reputed designers with signature styles adapted to Liva fabrics and translated their creativity on the runway for this show. The collaboration was a beautiful mix of traditional and modern silhouettes in such easy, flowing and breathable fabric.

8. Shivan & Narresh

The most awaited show was the last show of day 3 that painted a clear picture of its influence. The show was inspired by 17th century Edo Art aesthetic amalgamated with elements from the Eden of the world—Seychelles. We could easily pick some essentials for a destination wedding trousseau.
