Decided to stay in over the weekend for a little house party scene? Well, we all know that sometimes house parties can be underwhelming and even little awkward. There isn’t much except for drinking and chilling with friends and that can sometimes lead to major boredom. So, to avoid that kind of sad situation, we’ve got you some interesting games that will help spice up your weekend house party.
1. Cards Against Humanity
If you and your friends are a witty bunch, we highly recommend you play this hilarious card game. With whacky and sometimes, downright brutal sentences, this game is sure to bring out your inner cynic. You might have to hunt around for this game but it’s totally worth it.
How to play: It’s pretty simple! Each round, one player asks a question from the black card and everyone else answers with their funniest answer. And the asker of the question awards his/her favourite answer with the black card that counts as a point.
2. Kings Cup
Kings Cup is the kind of game you’d want to play a little later on in the night. You know, when you’ve tanked up a bit. That’s when this really shines through. It’s easily playable with a normal deck of cards.
How to play: Each card has a meaning. For example, the queen is the question master. Each card has a role to play in the game. The general idea is to not get the last “king” card. The first three kings in the deck, each pour a little of their drink into a glass and the fourth one has to drink it.
3. DIY Roulette
Just a quick note, you can actually buy the game in the market that comes with all the parts you need. However, we have a DIY version for all you lazy bums out there.
How to play: Take about 12 shot glasses and fill them up with various kinds of alcohol. Now, cover the glasses with red plastic cups (or something that can hide whats in them). Then, you spin the bottle and however it lands on, needs to pick a cup and have the shot that’s beneath it. To make it more interesting, you could also leave a few empty glasses.
4. Thumper
What’s the name of the game? THUMPER! Voila! We bring you another easy game that will also test your memory in the process.
How to play: It’s all about hand signs and memory with this one. Each person has a unique hand sign and you need to remember each one. After the game is announced, you have to use your hand sign and the hand sign of the person you want to pass it on to. Screw it up and you have to take a shot.
5. Arrogance
How much is too much? Is luck on your side or will your arrogance cost you? That is the name of the game!
How to play: It’s all in the cards. You start by filling a glass with alcohol. How much is up to you, just remember you may have to end up drinking that entire glass! After that, you need to pick a card and guess if it’s high or low. If you guess correctly, you pass on the glass. Simple yet effective.
6. No Questions
Tired of people asking too many questions? This is the perfect game for you.
How to play: Simple, don’t ask any questions. Each player actively tries to get the others to ask a question. Even a simple “what?” counts as a question. Each question asked amounts to one shot!
7. Hodgy Podgy
Got a knack and love for grammar? This sentence formation game truly tests how quick and good you are with your grammar!
How to play: You start by saying a word and the next player continues by adding another word. The goal is to form a grammatically correct sentence without breaking the chain. You need to be quick as well. Anyone who breaks the chain has to have a shot or can also be eliminated from the round.
8. Chug-A-Thon
The ultimate drinking game. Think of it like the Olympics of drinking, if you will.
How to play: Form teams and chug! Not much more to it and that works just as well.
9. But Umm…
We all love catchphrases. What originated as a game on the hit TV show, How I Met Your Mother is actually now a pretty fun drinking game.
How to play: Everyone has a catchphrase that they keep using. Something like “bro” or “did you know?” also count. Each time the person says that catchphrase, everyone has a shot!
