MissMalini, Sumeet Vyas, Keith Sequeira and Rochelle Rao are four people with different tastes and preferences when it comes to travel, but all four share a common love for Goa. So, at the end of last month, all four travel junkies in their own rights, got on a plane and headed to the four friends with one major thing in common got together to have a travel experience like no other.
The first thing they did right in their bid to go the un-touristy, local route is that they ditched the usual choice and picked Airbnb’s beautiful homes instead. This automatically changed their experience from the get-go, considering they were living in a beautiful home in the local neighbourhoods!
Now as I’ve mentioned before, each of these 4 people are distinct in the kind of travel they prefer. Sumeet likes discovering hidden gems, while Keith and Rochelle are culture vultures with a taste for shopping, while MissMalini loves her some food, drink and fun! Thankfully, Airbnb also has an Insider’s Guide To Goa that helped them with insider tips from locals as well as Airbnb hosts on where to go, what to do and even where to eat and party the night away.
1. Exploring Divar Island
Sumeet crossed over to the other side of the River Mandovi to explore the unexplored island named Divar.
2. Lunching At An Awesome Restaurant That Serves Authentic Goan Cuisine In Margao
Nostalgia, Raia is one of the few remaining Goan restaurants that do true-blue local favourites – both Goan and Portuguese – that you can only otherwise find in Goan homes.
3. Singing Karaoke At A Local Bar
4. Discovering The Arts & Culture Of Goa
Nestled in the quaint Latin Quarter of Panjim called Fontainhas, Gallery Gitanjali is a great place to take in the arts and culture, followed by a lovely stroll down the colourful streets.
5. Shopping At The Flea Market In Anjuna
Back in the ’70s when Goa was a hippie paradise, people from all over the globe would come to the quiet, but sunny state, and then do everything to stretch out their trip – including selling their personal items. And so, the Anjuna Flea Market was born.
6. Sunset at Little Vagator Beach
Locals love Little Vagator for the spectacular sunset views, and now, with the arrival of restaurants like Thalassa and Antares, it’s a favourite of out-of-towners too! Hey, something both sides have in common. How about that?
