What’s the one word that comes to mind when you think of Barkha Dutt? Brave? It’s a word that has often been associated with her after all the remarkable things she has achieved in life. She has covered wars, tragedies, controversies, and has been in the middle of it all, and made it back with some devastating yet incredible stories to tell. At the recently held panel for We The Women Asia, Alia Bhatt interestingly interviewed Barkha – and we loved this role reversal – because it’s very rare that you get to see a celebrated journalist on the hot seat talking about their lives.
The two spoke about digitalisation of the media and more, but what stood out was when Alia asked Barkha is she fears anything and the latter spoke about how more than fear, she’s often creeped out. She revealed an instance when she received spine-chilling rape threats from a bunch of men and how she had to get security for a couple of days but let go of it because as a journalist, she didn’t like it.
