There never has been nor will there ever be anyone like Shashi Kapoor. He was a man of his own and transformed what it meant to be an actor. We miss you and love you always 💕 pic.twitter.com/y5oAfAhaqj

Shashi Kapoor is no longer with us, but fans of Indian cinema will always have him in our hearts. The handsome, charismatic and frankly underrated actor gave us some truly unforgettable performances. The common factor in all the various movies he has done (from blockbusters like Jab Jab Phool Khile, Namak Halal, Kabhi Kabhie and Deewar to the off-beat ones like Utsav, Kalyug and Junoon) have been the fabulous songs.
When the news of his death broke, it started raining in Mumbai and a lot of people tweeted that it had something to with the passing away of one of India’s most loved stars.
I am convinced these are not unseasonal rains over Mumbai.
These are tears for Shri #ShashiKapoor
Started more or less the same time the news broke out

The gloom has set in, but life must go on, and what’s a better way to do that than listen to some of Shashi Kapoor’s best songs right?
Here’s my list –
1) Wada Karo Nahin Chodoge Tum Mera Saath
The skating song! Only Shashi Kapoor could look this good in such clothes.
2) Pardesiyon Se Na Ankhiyan Milana
The original Raja Hindustani. Seriously, how cute was his smile?
3) Keh Doo Tumhe
Millennials might remember the DJ Aqeel version better, but really nothing beats the original.
4) Bekhudi Mein Sanam
5) Likhe Jo Khat Tujhe
This is strictly my opinion, but Mohammad Rafi‘s silken voice suited Shashi Kapoor’s voice the most. No other actor came close to doing justice to Rafi’s songs.
6) Le Jayenge Le Jayenge
The inspiration behind the title of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Bollywood’s most popular romantic movie.
7) Tum Bin Jaoon Kahaan
Be still my beating heart!
8) Khilte Hain Gul Yahaan
Okay, not just Mohd. Rafi, Shashi Kapoor was perfect for Kishore Kumar songs too. He was perfect basically.
9) Sa Re Ga Ma Pa
Hema Malini, Shashi Kapoor’s co-star in Abhinetri often said that he reminded her of international stars.
10) Yeh Sama
Even when he wasn’t the focus of the song, he managed to make us all smile. All the time.
11) Jo Soche Jo Chahe Woh Kar Ke Dikha De
Shashi was known more as romantic hero, an image that stayed on despite doing varied work, including movies that would be termed as ‘art-house cinema’. This song is the perfect representation of how he was much more than a charming man. He was a charming man with incredible comic timing.
12) Ni Sultana Re
This is really the perfect song for the unanticipated rains, isn’t it?
To be honest, this list is going to be endless because of the body of work he has. His contribution to Indian cinema will never be forgotten.
