Sidharth Malhotra – Sonakshi Sinha – Akshaye Khanna starrer Ittefaq released in theatres last week and has garnered a good response so far. The 107-minutes long murder mystery was made on a start to finish 50-day schedule and not promoted on any platform whatsoever.
The absence of promotional rounds & limited media interaction greatly helped in keeping the curiosity surrounding the film intact, in my opinion. Moreover, it aided in keeping film’s real delight, Akshaye Khanna under the wraps. It was heartening to see him back on screen after so long and playing the role of a super cop with such sheer brilliance. To be honest, he effortlessly overshadowed the other lead actors – Sidharth & Sonakshi.
But Sid is unfazed by this discussion and chooses to look at the bigger picture. Speaking to Mid-Day about it, he said:
The length of a role is the least of my concerns when I green-light a script. In Ittefaq, the story is told by Akshaye Khanna, who has a sizeable part in the movie. Since I don’t belong to a film family, I never get into the insecure zone. Personally, I am not the one to eat into someone’s work or role. It’s always better to work with better actors. I am upping my game.
He further said:
For me, stories matter the most. In films like Brothers and Aiyaary, I was clear that I wanted those parts to make my resume stronger. This is the time to test the waters. I am reacting to stories rather than if I am going to get to hog the limelight.
Alright then!
