Virat Kohli & Anushka Sharma are at the top of my list of favourite celebrity couples. It’s always delightful to see two bright, talented, successful & good-looking individuals in a relationship with each other. (Delightful for me, at least!)
If Virat’s adorable Instagram posts for Anushka weren’t enough, I skipped a heartbeat when I saw them together in their recent ad! However, there’s more to #Virushka apart from the glamour quotient associated with them.
In a candid interview with Gaurav Kapoor recently, Virat underlined the changes Anushka has brought into his life which helped him become a better man.
When Gaurav asked him about his transition from a Delhi boy into a gentleman, he said:
Lady luck ka kamaal hai. You have seen me, you know I had no sense before. Ever since the lady has come into my life, she’s taught me a lot of things. I’ve learnt a lot, become more sensible in the last 4 years all because of her. She’s taught me how to be more patient and taught me how to utilise the position I am in to the fullest. At that time too, I never tried to be anyone else. I never tried to tell myself that I should be reading books etc… those are gradual things. If you like it it, you like it. So, luckily I never tried to change myself. But the flip has been because of her.
Awww! He also credited her for being there with him throughout.
In England in 2014, Anushka was there in my life, she understood what I was going through so she kept me motivated. Her support helped me push through, however bad it was for me. She was a constant in that time. Then Australia happened and I ended up scoring runs, in her presence. So it was a special thing for both of us because she had also faced so much flak. We were being criticised and people were saying this is what happens when you allow girlfriends on the tour. So I said if you are not okay with it, I can’t be in a relationship? According to them, I should either get married or be single.
And what made him open up about his relationship at a time when most celebrities prefer to remain silent?
A very big reason behind this is Zaheer Khan. Luckily he was one of the first guys I spoke to about this and he said whatever you do don’t try to hide it because you’ll stress yourself. And on top of that, you’re in a relationship, you’re not doing anything wrong. I’m actually very grateful that my first interaction about this was with Zak. And he told me the right thing to do so I’ve followed it ever since.
