While the on-going controversy between Kangana Ranaut and Hrithik Roshan has been grabbing eyeballs and headlines, there was the hot topic that everyone was talking about – Nepotism. It all began when Kangana Ranaut opened a can of worms on Koffee With Karan and accused Karan Johar of being the flag-bearer of nepotism. Since then, almost everyone has voiced their opinion on the matter – from Ranbir Kapoor saying he’s a product of nepotism to Vidya Balan saying she’s bored of the discussion on the matter.
Karan, Saif Ali Khan and Varun Dhawan indulged in some not-so-pleasant jokes about Kangana at the IIFA Awards this year and that landed them in more trouble than they’d have hoped for. The three later apologised for their words and Karan was asked about this at a press conference for the recently held Mumbai International Film Festival.
Here’s what he said.
It seems like we are criminals. It’s like everywhere we are slapped with legal notices as we are children of parents who are within the film industry.
Ranbir Kapoor, who was also present at the press con later added,
It is a sensitive conservation. At one point, you could be amused by it, but it is a sensitive thing now. My great-grandfather worked hard so that he could give his children the opportunity to do something in life. So on and so forth and it came to me. When I have children, I would like them to have that opportunity and then see how good they are.
Hmmm. What are your thoughts?
