Fashion got a sudden sparkle boost on day 7 of New York Fashion Week, and we were kinda waiting for it! The glam factor was evident in the interesting silhouettes that graced the ramp. Here are some of the shows that definitely hit the right mark for us:
1. Badgely Mischka
Mark Badgley and James Mischka showed us how to go on a stylish vacay! Their inspiration was that a girl goes to Capri to for the first time, and the whole lineup entailed the things she might wear for different occasions there. Texture played a major role in this collection with the different textiles and silhouettes presented.
2. Alice and Olivia by Stacey Bendet
Alice and Olivia’s presentation was a unique collaboration with female artists and gave art a new pedestal. The eye-catching prints were represented in feminine silhouettes for any and every occasion.
3. Baja East
John Targon and Scott Studenberg from Baja East definitely had the ’90s on their mind for their spring instalment. They also had some effortless summer separates in a variety of fabrics. They definitely lend some finesse to street style fashion.
4. Coach 1941
Sparkle, sparkle… everywhere! The shiny sequins were unexpectedly juxtaposed with silk slip dress and heavy-duty leather jackets. This tactile play worked with the dramatics of the silhouettes reminiscing the ’70s and ’80s.
5. Maryam Nassir Zadeh
Maryam Nassir Zadeh had a race track but the easy-breezy summer separates had an altogether different vibe to them. The fact that we could mix-and-match anything from the lineup was so relatable to a girl on the go.
6. Naeem Khan
The nose rings just did it for us at Naeem Khan‘s show! The explosion of colours with frill details and unique lace placements also set the ramp on fire.
7. Miguel Vieira
Miguel Vieira‘s print play was abstract and intriguing, but the cuts of the garments were equally interesting. Also, how cool are those long waist belts?
8. Vaquera
Deconstructed and reimagined garments caught our attention at Vaquera’s showcase. Hints of ’60’s floral prints just added the punch on the ramp.
9. Cynthia Rowley
Cynthia Rowley definitely got us swinging into action with her mixture of prints and easy-breezy silhouettes. We loved the contrast of tailored blazers in between.
10. Ralph Lauren
Ralph Lauren‘s race ready ensembles were also fit for a red carpet. We know that sounds a bit of a mess, but the collection juxtaposed the sporty vibes with glamorous sheen very beautifully.
