As Sara Ali Khan preps for Kedarnath with Sushant Singh Rajput, Jhanvi Kapoor is also gearing up for her Bollywood debut. It was earlier reported that Karan Johar is launching Sridevi‘s elder daughter in the Hindi remake of the Marathi hit, Sairat, being directed by Shashank Khaitan.
According to some reports, KJo approached the director of Sairat, Nagraj Manjule to guide and instruct Shashank for the remake. However, according to a report in DNA, Mr. Manjule is not too keen to be on board as Karan wants the film to have a sophisticated look. The report states that contrary to the original story, the female lead character won’t have a rustic, village girl look. Similarly, the male lead will be poor, but still have a muscular pin-up boy.
A source close to the film told DNA:
When you are launching Sridevi’s daughter, you can’t have the heroine playing a village girl. Jhanvi will be clothed in the best and shot in the most eye-catching locales.
Therefore, the director of the original is reluctant to lend his name to the remake.
