When we say we experienced a paradigm shift in fashion at Day 1 of Lakme Fashion Week, we’re not kidding! Gear up for abstract prints, boxy silhouettes and beautiful juxtaposition of old and new. It seems the designers have a new voice and a new rhythm they are tuning us into. Bold, artistic and comfy chic, they might have held back on the colour palette, but not on the intricate details. The inspirations were unique and each collection had a story to tell. Here’s the round up of the fabulous start to 5 days of fashion!
Gen Next Designers

431:88 By Shweta Kapur
The artistic approach was quite evident in the outfits of 431:88 by Shweta Kapur. The shiny fabrics and frill details definitely got our attention. Sayani Gupta stole the show as she walked the ramp in a shimmery mini number.

The Meraki Project
Taking us back to our childhood, The Meraki Project by Sonali Pamnani was a master stroke when it came to motifs. All the drawings with crooked lines from our early days were brought to life on the ramp through embroidery. Sanya Malhotra looked fabulous as she shimmied down the runway in a flirty skirt.

Prints and bold colours, we expected them and we are glad we got a good amount of both by Masaba Gupta. Stepping into the bridal arena for the first time, the theme was all about fluidity and contemporary richness.
