“I have been contemplating on buying a makeup primer, do I really need it?”

Gone are the days when the foundation was the real ‘foundation’ of your makeup. This decade, makeup industry sees revolutionary products taking over the beauty game. Primer is one of the most sought after products amongst those. I got mine a few months ago but even I have been contemplating whether I really, really need it. After some web browsing and self-experimentation, these are a few things I came across:
1. It gives a smooth foundation application.
It preps your skin and provides a smooth base for other steps in your makeup routine. It is supposed to fill in the large pores and fine lines for a smooth finish.
2. Your makeup lasts longer.
If you are a lazy bum like me who doesn’t touch up their makeup often, then this product is a boon. Under-eye concealers and eyeshadows seem to last longer.
3. It can be expensive.
Well, it is an extra step that you are adding to your routine. So, if you are on a tight budget, then this might not be something you want to invest in immediately.
To conclude I like to add two things –
Firstly, I don’t wear a lot of makeup every day. My basic routine consists of a sunscreen, BB cream, eyeliner, mascara and a lipstick. If you too have a similar basic routine, I won’t recommend the everyday use of a primer. But on the other hand, it is always good to have a primer in handy when you decide to go for a heavy makeup look for special occasions. Once you apply it, you’re all set for the day!
