The premiere episode of Game of Thrones season 7 came out today and while the most shocking event of the episode happened before the credits even rolled, there was a celebrity cameo which surprised everyone.
Popular British singer Ed Sheeran (who is all set to perform in Mumbai this year btw) was in the show. After Arya Stark obliterates the men of House Frey, she takes off for King’s Landing, where in the middle of her journey, she comes across a group of Lannister soldiers. How does she get their attention? By hearing one of them sing a song. Who is singing the song? Ed Sheeran!
Yep, the makers of the show wanted to surprise Maisie Williams, who plays the role of Arya Stark by bringing Ed to the sets of the show, as he happens to be her favourite singer. Earlier too, famous musicians have made subtle cameos in the series (such as Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol, Will Champion from Coldplay, Sigur Rós and Mastodon). But Ed Sheeran’s appearance is definitely the most noticeable.
