Hairfall is a problem that plagues most people. We all know how frustrating it feels to see strands of hair on your brush or clogging the drain. Luckily, there is something you can do about it.
To begin with, assess whether your hair loss is significant. Typically, we shed about 80-100 strands per day, which is absolutely normal. If you think you are losing more than this, here’s what you can do.
First off, stop stressing! Stress is a major cause for hairfall, so worrying about your mane isn’t doing you any favours. Also consider taking a blood test to check out any nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalances or underlying medical issues.
If all is good with your tests, it’s time to make some changes. Start by easing off on hot tools like straighteners and curling irons, which weaken your tresses over time. Over-brushing your hair can also lead to breakage and damage. Just brush them enough to take out any tangles and knots.
Frequent hair washing could be ones of the reason for hair loss. On the flip side, not cleansing your hair enough can also cause your strands to fall. Use a gentle shampoo 2-3 times a week to protect your locks.
If all else fails, turn to a doctor. Supplements and topical medications can help you out, but they may have side effects so it’s best to discuss all your options with a medical professional.
The key thing here is to be patient. Your hair isn’t going to transform overnight so you need to give it a few months before seeing results.
