Last week was a great week for us fashion freaks! What with The 2017 Golden Globes and The Jio Filmfare Awards sandwiching 7 days of awesome courtesy Deepika Padukone, who was showing off her relentless and effortless style on the xXx Movie promo trail (click here, here and here to read) and a few other of the usual stylish suspects, we had plenty to blog about. Metallic hues were a popular choice and so were black and pink. We saw so many standout looks in solid yellow and white… Enough to play a quick session of… *drum roll*… Red Carpet Colour Wars! All you need to do is a keep a score of the look you liked out of two similar styles, which we’ve pre-decided for you. That was the easy part, it gets harder now.
Yellow’s on the left, white on the right and we’ve got eight rounds. Keep a count for us now.. and GO:
1. Preity Zinta in Vidhi Wadhwani VS Sonam Kapoor in Elie Saab
These ladies, besides having perfected the art of the power pose, were our two favourite looks of the night. We can’t choose… So we’re calling a tie here!
2. Maisie Williams in Ong Oaj Pairam VS Sienna Miller in Michael Kors Collection
One thing these two have in common is their super-lean figure that they expertly flaunt in simple and clean silhouettes. We can’t decide… Forgive us, but it’s a tie here too!
3. Natalie Portman in Prada VS Thandi Newton in Monse
Full sleeves (aha!) and embellished details on the bottom is what’s common here. This is a difficult one to call because Natalie looks darling in this covered up number but Thandi’s look stands out for the right reasons. White wins here!
4. Reese Witherspoon in Versace VS Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton
They’re both Belles of the Ball in these bare shoulder, floor length gowns. Have to call a tie (like Michelle’s choker… couldn’t resist the pun there *sorry* ) here!
4. Shilpa Shetty Kundra in Manish Malhotra VS Swara Bhaskar in Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla
These ruflle-licious ladies both took our breaths away over the weekend. Shilpa’s having an Angelina moment and we have to give this round to her! Yellow is the winner.
5. Kerry Washington in Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda VS Kristen Wiig in Reem Acra
We love the just-about-there feel the lace on these two lovely gowns is giving us! Both looks are fun and beautiful and in a glorious tie!
6. Viola Davis in Michael Kors Collection VS Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Edition by Georges Chakra
Both are strong and powerful leading ladies of film and TV and both have a great sense of humour which we’re big fans of. Viola’s curve hugging one shouldered number is so striking, we’re giving this round to yellow!
7. Isla Fisher in Monique Lhuillier VS Zoe Kravitz in Brandon Maxwell
This isn’t easy because they’re both fully rocking their bare shoulders. Isla is such a bombshell but Zoe looks so soft and edgy in this short dress, our hearts are with white here.
8. Tracee Ellis Ross in Paule Ka & Leighton Meester in Galvan
Draped is the keyword here. Tracee’s accessory game is so strong, she’s already made one of our top ten lists (click here to read) and we love her bag here. But we’re delighted to see vicious and beloved Blair, having her own Angelina moment in this low cut, thigh high slitted dress. White wins!
