As the new year rang in, the internet’s “new year, new me” gibber somehow stuck with me in a small way. After all, we got older this year – so our skin ain’t getting younger. That’s why it’s a good time to start adding in the little things here and there to make sure you come through with the best version of yourself!
Here are some of the things you can start incorporating into your beauty routine:
1. Schedule monthly mani-pedis
Nothing is as good and as refreshing as a good mani-pedi. You can tell a lot by the appearance of someone’s nails, so go ahead and treat yourself to some hella good looking nails – not to mention, the relaxation that comes along with it!
2. Workout regularly
Having healthy looking skin is basically the overall goal. And any form of working out (whether pilates or a spin class) will help tighten and firm your body while detoxing your skin, giving you a fresher look!
3. Invest in salt scrubs to exfoliate dead skin
After all the working out you’ll be doing for a fresher you, it’s best to start exfoliating away the old you. Makes any sense? This year, start off with exfoliating scrubs (or even sugar scrubs) to slough off dead skin cells and allow the skin underneath to really come through.
4. Start shaving for smoother skin
Of course, once that’s over with, the best thing to do is maintain the smoothness of the skin post exfoliation. That’s when the Gillette Venus razor comes into play. Because of its aloe vera-laden strip, it’s great for any skin type and gives you soft and smooth skin daily.
5. Moisturise on the daily
To keep skin looking youthful and like a million bucks, you need to have a moisturiser by your side. You can choose a moisturiser with a SPF coverage as well to really soak in all the benefits.
6. Get a trim every 6-8 weeks
Most people are probably afraid of this step, but trust in the magic of a trim. Not only will it give you the appearance of healthier looking hair, it’ll also solve your split-end problem!
7. Start using retinol in your skincare regimen
Known as the miracle cream of last year, retinol includes vitamin A which boosts collagen. It also unclogs pores and fades hyper-pigmentation.
8. Steam your face before bed
Yes yes, I’m sure your mothers and grandmothers have told you the benefits of steam—you should listen to them, because it can do wonders for your skin. It deep-cleanses and helps remove dirt and other impurities. Once you’ve finished the steam, grab a hot towel and let it rest over your face for a minute or two.
9. Be bold and trendy with your makeup
Makeup is supposed to be fun. So try out that glitter lip or a tie-dye eyeshadow the next time you hit the town. Who knows, it might just become your signature look at the end of it…
So, start your squats, grab that razor and smooth sail into a newer and more radiant you!
