It’s only natural to assume that the more elaborate your skincare routine, the higher your chances of achieving a flawless glow. I mean, we’ve all heard of the arduous 10-step Korean skincare regimen that seems to give asian beauties an incredibly smooth and poreless complexion. But can slapping on a ton of products really give you the skin you desire?
According to renowned dermatologist Dr. Rashmi Shetty, our skin can thrive on less than three products. In fact, Dr. Shetty only suggests using two, saying that anything more can sometimes be detrimental to your skin. There are three key components to achieving a beautiful complexion: nourishment, protection and cleansing.
For the first two components, try an all-in-one product like BB and CC creams that contain sunscreen (at least SPF 30). Along with providing a little coverage, these creams hydrate skin and provide much needed protection from UV rays.
If you’re prone to break outs, a targeted approach is imperative. Start off with a zit-zapping treatment to address your blemishes, and then top it off with a SPF containing nourishing cream.
For those of you who want to tackle aging, pigmentation or dullness, targeted nights creams are the way to go. Apply before bed since the skin heals itself overnight. If skin is severely dry, apply a moisturiser on top of your corrective treatment to prevent further dryness and irritation.
The fact is, you don’t need a drawer full of skincare products. So remember, it only takes two!
