Last year, Rashami Desai‘s marriage with Nandish Sandhu hit a rough patch and the two went through a messy divorce. Rashami even accused her ex-husband of domestic abuse. But the actress seems to have moved on in her life and is gearing up for her upcoming show on Colors, Dil Se Dil Tak.
Over the months, Rashami has been linked up to her Adhoori Kahaani Hamari co-actor, Laksh Lalwani and later, her reel life husband in Dil Se Dil Tak, Sidharth Shukla. In a recent interview with HT Cafe, she opened up about the hurtful rumours circulating about her, being a divorcee and starting life afresh post her split with Nandish.
Here are a few excerpts!
On her several link-ups:
The rumours and link-ups with my co-stars are upsetting. Is it a crime to be a divorcee and a single woman? Does being a divorcee mean you can’t have a life?
On leading a life as a divorcee:
Women have the right to live the way they want, and such reports affect the way people treat me on the set or think about me. I am scared of stepping out of the house, because of what people will think of me. In our society, men and women are looked at differently anyway, and that’s even truer if you are an actress. These reports are not letting me move on. Being a divorcee and single is very tough for me.
Rashami also spoke about being encouraged by friends, family and even Nandish to start life afresh, but she feels that the distress of the constant speculation around her personal life is too disheartening.
She said:
One has to move on. My mom always says ‘this too shall pass’, but this is painful and a tough time for me.
