1. Ranbir Kapoor-Katrina Kaif
This was THE break up of the year. After dating for several years, Ranbir and Katrina parted ways. and their break up became a major tabloid news. While gossip mills churned out quite a few theories about the reason behind their break up, the actual reason is best known to the ex-lovebirds.
2. Farhan Akhtar-Adhuna Bhabani
The couple announced their mutual decision to separate amicably after 16 years of marriage. They dated each other for three years before tying the knot and have two children.
3. Arbaaz Khan-Malaika Arora
This one actually hurt slightly more than others. After several years of togetherness, Malaika and Arbaaz filed for divorce last month and will be legally divorced in May next year. They have been living separately since the past few months and maintain a cordial relationship for the best interest of their son.
4. Sushant Singh Rajput-Ankita Lokhande
Another sad break-up: Ankita and Sushant went different ways after being together for six years. A lot of reasons came to the forefront, some saying Ankita had a drinking problem and growing insecurity, while other reports suggested Sushant called it quits following his success in Bollywood. He was also reportedly getting close to his Raabta co-star Kriti Sanon.
5. Upen Patel-Karishma Tanna
Upen decided to announce his break-up with Karishma on Twitter. The couple, fondly called UpMa by fans, tried working out their differences, but eventually opted for a break up. They were in the news again after they reportedly had an ugly fight on a street.
6. Frank Gastambide-Richa Chadha
Richa called it quits with Frank this year in February, putting an end to their 9-month long distance relationship. They met when the actress spent some time in France last year during Masaan promotions. However, reportedly, her work schedule was not allowing her to devote much time for the relationship, even though she often visited France to be with beau.
7. Om Puri-Nandita
Veteran actor Om Puri and wife Nandita have opted for judicial separation after 26 years of marriage. They decided to live separately without going for a divorce, with the actor getting visiting rights to their son Ishaan. Reportedly, things turned ugly between them following Nandita’s biography of the actor.
8. Ashwin Ramkumar-Soundarya
Rajinikanth’s daughter Soundarya decided to end her marriage of six years to Chennai-based industrialist Ashwin Ramkumar a few days ago. After a four-year courtship, Soundarya and Ashwin tied the knot in 2010. Buzz is that they had a difference of opinion for a long time now.
9. Priyadarshan-Lissy Lakshmi
Around mid-September, Lissy Lakshmi confirmed that her marriage with filmmaker Priyadarshan has officially ended. She called the entire procedure an ordeal and even said she feels relieved after the divorce.
10. Sidharth Malhotra-Alia Bhatt
Break-up rumours of Alia and Sidharth have been doing the rounds since a while now but they have always denied being together as a couple. Industry insiders, however, said they were very much in love. Since the past few months, specially after the Dream Team Tour, rumours are rife that they have broken up/are on a break.
11. Calvin Harris-Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris officially called it quits at the beginning of June and the reason cited was boredom and jealousy on Calvin’s end.

Pictures of Taylor cuddling up on the beach with Tom Hiddleston surfaced. However, they also called it quits in early September.
13. Johnny Depp-Amber Heard
In May, it was reported that Amber Heard filed for divorce from Johnny Depp after over a year of marriage. She reportedly said that Depp’s family does not like her.
14. Justin Bieber-Sophia Richie
Justin Bieber and Sofia Richie broke off their six-week-long relationship in mid-September, a few days after their PDA-filled trip to Mexico for the latter’s birthday.
15. Casper Smart-Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer and Casper met in 2011 when he was a dancer on her tour, and dated on and off since 2012. They split this year in August.
16. Taylor Kinney and Lady Gaga
Earlier this year on Valentine’s Day, Taylor Kinney popped the question to Lady Gaga. But in July, reports came in that they had ended their relationship after dating for five years.
17. Varun Sood-Martina Thariyan
The Splitsvilla 9 sweethearts broke up around mid-September. Reportedly, Martina cheated on Varun with someone called Suraj. They still claim to be friends, though.
18. Nawab Shah-Kavita Kaushik
Kavita and Nawab split in July ending their 5-year-old romance. Reports suggested that Kavita’s parents disapproved of the relationship because of their different religious backgrounds. However, Nawab rubbished these rumours recently and said they parted ways due to personal differences.
19. Vivian Dsena-Vahbiz Dorabjee
Vivian and Vahbiz decided to go their separate ways after three years of marriage. The couple fell in love on the sets of Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani. It is reported that they had compatibility issues, with Vivian being shy and reserve and Vahbiz being an extrovert. Vivian earlier said that divorce is out of question for them, but his absence was noticeable at Vahbiz’s birthday bash.
20. Ryan Adams-Mandy Moore
Mandy Moore and singer-songwriter Ryan Adams divorced after six years of marriage due to irreconcilable differences. The two officially got divorced after fighting a legal battle for 17 months.
21. Will Kopelman-Drew Barrymore
Drew and popular art consultant Will Kopelman got married in 2012 after dating for a year and are parents to two baby girls. They parted ways in July this year. Drew had married twice before and both the marriages had lasted for less than a year each.
22. Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie
This was yet another massive break up that shocked fans and caused a lot of media frenzy. Reportedly, Angelina filed for divorce from Brad, on the grounds of ‘irreconcilable differences’. The couple was together for 12 years and it was heard that their arguments got worse and they disagreed a lot about parenting and other matters.
23. Kamal Haasan- Gautami
Kamal Haasan and his live-in partner of 13 years Gautami have decided to part ways. Gautami wrote about it on her blog and called it one of “the most devastating decisions she’s ever had to make in her life”.
24. Jim Sarbh-Kalki Koechlin
Jim and Kalki were reportedly dating each other, but eventually went separate ways. Rumour mills were abuzz that the two even ignored each other at a film festival recently.
25. Live Schreiber-Naomi Watts
Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber decided to end their relationship after being together for 11 years. The ex-couple have two children together and this break-up has come as quite a shock.
26. Kunal Verma-Puja Banerjee
Puja Banerjee and Kunal Verma fell in love on the sets of Tujh Sang Preet Lagayi Sajna. The couple broke up as Kunal did not want to settle down so soon, whereas Puja was keen on getting married.
27. Neil Bhatt-Neha Sargam
Popular TV couple Neha Sargam and Neil Bhatt have called it quits. They were pretty serious about each other and even had marriage plans. Rumour has it that the two parted ways because of some issues.
