Remember the song Ek Chumma Tu Mujhko Udhaar De De from the Govinda–Shilpa Shetty starrer, Chhote Sarkaar? Yes yes, the same song that promised to exchange UP-Bihar in return for kisses. Turns out, back in 2000 when Jharkhand was still a part of Bihar, a local lawyer filed a case against the actors, accusing them of defaming the states mentioned in the song.
Almost 20 years after the film’s release, the lead actors have been summoned to testify in a court in Pakur, Jharkhand on October 18, i.e tomorrow. According to a report in Bombay Times, the hearing of the case was scheduled for June 30 this year. Despite several warnings, none of the actors showed up and reportedly, an arrest warrant was issued against them on July 20, but still no action was taken.
Reportedly, a non-bailable warrant was also issued against director Vimal Kumar, singers Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik, music composer duo Anand–Milind and lyricist Rani Malik on 5th May 2001.
