I don’t mean to brag, I’m not that kinda guy, but what I did last weekend was Epic on so many levels, I can’t help myself! I mean how often do you get to be a part of an event that will be forever etched in history? How often do you get to hear the biggest legends of Rock Music perform, all in one place?
Thank you British Airways for this legendary ride! MissM, you too!
So if you read my last blog (http://www.missmalini.com/2016/10/05/8-things-im-looking-forward-to-this-weekend-at-desert-trip-coachella-classic/), you know I was super excited to go to the now legendary Desert Trip, at Coachella Valley, the 3 day Music Festival, in Palm Springs, California.
Here are the Top 13 things that made this a trip that will never be forgotten:
1. Prepping – An Epic Wardrobe for an Epic Trip.
I have quite a few people to thank for helping me look Rock Chic throughout the festival, the amazing designers Arjun Khanna and Troy Costa who sent me some killer ensembles, my awesome stylist @Arshionista (Arshiya Fakih) who put all my looks together, and Dapper Don, a brand new service that could change the way you shop! Read on to find out more!
Dapper Don is a unique personalised service that helps you discover awesome clothes without the hassle of shopping! They curated two trunks for me with numerous looks, put together by their in house experts, and had it delivered to my house! I’m so going to enjoy working with them! 2. The British Airways Experience!
The minute I saw their check in counter, I knew this was going to be an awesome journey!
If you’re flying long haul (UK, Europe, USA), the British Airways Club World is the way to go!
The Club World Lounge at London Heathrow is an experience unto itself, and is undoubtedly one of the best Business class lounges in the world! I made like The Flash, and made a time lapse video walk through of the entire place, just for you! (Took me 20 minutes of walking at snail pace to get this 24 second video!)
3. My home in Los Angeles – The London, West Hollywood, in Beverly Hills
Checking in to The London, I forgot I had just flown over 24 hours! If you like living in the lap of luxury in LA, this is most definitely the place!
The London is a favourite with Hollywood, with all-suite rooms, inspired culinary options, a rooftop pool with panoramic views of the city, and even a film screening room! But the highlight of the hotel was their Penthouse suite, designed by Vivienne Westwood, the largest most luxurious suite in all of LA. It was mind blowing! A two bedroom, 11,000 sq ft, two storied apartment, 5000 sq ft of which is a roof top deck with 360 degrees view of the city and Hollywood Hills, and the Grand Salon (living room) is 2000 sq ft! If I throw a party in LA, that’s where I want to do it! (Hope you’re listening The London!)
4. Meeting very cool fellow influencers from around the world!
British Airways brought together some very cool digital influencers and bloggers from Germany, France, UK, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, South Africa and the US, the perfect crew to be with on this trip!
5. Lunch with Georgia May Jagger!
So the funniest thing happened to me. At a lunch she was hosting for us, I was seated next to Georgia May Jagger, the English Supermodel. I hate to say this but I didn’t recognize her straight away, and we got to chatting about India, and how her brother was holidaying in India, and would probably make his way to Goa, since her sister has a house there. Incredulously, I asked why her sister has a house in Goa, and she said cos she has a store there, for her jewellery line, for her brand Jade Jagger, which is when the penny dropped in my head! I spent half my meal talking to Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall’s daughter, and didn’t have a clue! She was super cool and chilled out, and great fun! (She also gave us her Tips on attending music festivals, which I will be posting in my next blog!)
6. Villa in Palm Springs
Loved my home for the 3 days of the festival in Palm Springs!
7. Hollywood & Celebrity Spotting at the Diamond VIP Lounge
A concert as big as Desert Trip had to have a place for the celebrities to hang out away from the crowd, and the Diamond VIP Lounge was the place! Obviously we had full access, and so we chilled with our drinks right alongside Catherine Zeta Jones & Michael Douglas with their kids, Leonardo Di Caprio, Sean Penn, Goldie Hawn, Kurt Russel, Rob Lowe and Cindy Crawford, Benecio Del Torro and many many others.
8. Concert Day 1 – Bob Dylan & Rolling Stones
My favourite concert of the whole festival, Mick Jagger, at the age of 73 killed it on stage with the Rolling Stones!
9. Concert Day 2 – Neil Young & Paul McCartney
10. Concert Day 3 – The Who & Roger Waters (Pink Floyd)
11. Always happy being and partying in LA!
12. Frank Sinatra’s Hollywood Star!
Those who know me well (who have partied with me past 3 am) know that I’ve had a song stuck in my head for a few years now, Frank Sinatra’s Fly Me To The Moon, and so was quite chuffed when I found his Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as I was out partying one night!
So that was it, my epic trip to California! One for posterity, no?
