Nobody can say if success and superstitions go hand in hand. But, some Bollywood celebrities apparently think of superstitions as the key to their success. Ajay Devgn chose to drop an A from his last name, while Ekta Kapoor is known to use the alphabet K, everywhere! We’ve penned down an interesting list of Bollywood celeb superstitions that have STRANGE written all over them.
Check out our list of Bollywood’s most superstitious:
Akshay Kumar
Reportedly, he believes that staying in the country before a release may not work well for the film. The superstar is believed to have flown abroad before most of his films hit the screens. If you ask us, inside the country or not, we will always love your work!
Shilpa Shetty
Reports suggest, during the Indian Premier League, Shilpa always wore two watches on her wrist when her team Rajasthan Royals played!
R Madhavan
3 Idiots is my all time favourite Bollywood film. I remember each scene in great detail. So when I heard about Madhavan’s strange belief that deals with the film, I was quite surprised. Remember the opening airport scene in the film? Of course you do! The scene was shot at Hyderabad airport and reportedly, the actor considers the airport integral to the success of his film. So much that, he insisted that an airport scene from Tanu Weds Manu be shot in the Hyderabad airport, specifically. Wow!
Amitabh Bachchan
Apparently, Big B was superstitious about watching cricket matches when the Indian team was playing. Turns out, this superstition was shattered when he saw India lift the World Cup in 2011.
Juhi Chawla
Here’s another Bollywood celebrity who possesses a strange belief when it comes to cricket matches. Co-owner of Kolkata Knight Riders, Juhi, avoids giving interviews before a match. Apparently, the actress once gave an interview prior to the match, following which, KKR lost.
Shraddha Kapoor
This is one superstition that is rather cute. We told you how Shraddha thinks Shakti Kapoor is her lucky charm. In fact, she thinks that the movies that do well are the ones that her father watches when he is in Delhi. We hope Daddy Kapoor watches Half Girlfriend in Delhi. Some special dad-daughter-Delhi connection!
Subhash Ghai
Madhuri Dixit, Mahima Chaudhary, Meenakshi Sheshadri and Manisha Koirala. Despite the initial alphabet, these names share another commonality : they have all been directed by Subhash Ghai. Legend has it that the filmmaker prefers to cast actresses who have names starting with his ‘lucky letter’, ‘M’. In fact, Mahima, whose original name was Ritu Chaudhary, was given her name by Subhash.
Bipasha Basu
Bipasha is a strong believer of the age old nimbu-mirchi (lemon-chillies) ritual. The actor believes in hanging lemon and chillies in her car every Saturday.
Hrithik Roshan
Hrithik considers his extra thumb as a lucky charm and he never even considered surgically removing it even thought he was advised to at the beginning of his career.
Seems like, Bollywood and it’s connection with strange superstitions is here to stay!
