Remember early 2000’s when all the K serials were ruling the roost on television? The show Sanjivani: A Medical Boon, which revolved around the lives of 5 doctors came as a breath of fresh air around that time. Can you believe it’s been 11 years since the show ended?
We take a look at a few characters on the show and give you all the #deets on their current whereabouts. Let me warn you, this could make you sad. *Sniff sniff*
1. Gaurav Chanana as Dr. Rahul Mehra
He was the reckless guy who falls in love with Juhi and the cute looks made him a favourite for many young girls. He was later replaced by Mihir Mishra. Gaurav was last seen in Ishkq In Paris opposite Preity Zinta.
2. Gurdeep Kohli as Dr. Juhi Singh
Dr. Juhi became a household name owing to her chirpy, caring and ambitious personality. She falls in love with Dr. Rahul on the show. She made her Bollywood debut with Rowdy Rathore, and has also done a few shows like Diya Aur Baati Hum and Dil Ki Baatein on the small screen. She also hosts Zee Khana Khazana’s show, Bacha Party.
3. Late Sanjit Bedi as Dr. Omi Joshi
Sanjit Bedi gained a lot of popularity after essaying the role of Dr. Omi. He has also done shows like Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka and Kasautii Zindagii Kay among others. He passed away at a young age due to a brain virus.
4. Shilpa Kadam and Rupali Ganguly as Dr. Simran Chopra
Shilpa Kadam played the spoilt brat, Dr. Simran, who later falls in love with Rahul which led to a love triangle. She was replaced by Rupali Ganguly, best known for her role in Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai and Parvarish. Shilpa has not been active on television apart from being seen in a few ads.
5. Arjun Punj as Dr. Aman
Arjun Punj played a negative role in the show. He was set up by Simran to wreck havoc in Rahul-Juhi’s life. He later married his co-star Juhi (Gurdeep Kohli) in real life and the couple appeared together on Nach Baliye and Diya Aur Baati Hum.
6. Mohnish Bahl as Dr. Shashank
Favourite character, no matter what he does! Dr. Shashank was the binding force in Sanjivani hospital, who mentored the young doctors. His last show on TV was Kuch To Log Kahenge and not to forget all the memorable movies he has starred in, like Hum Sath Sath Hai and Hum Aapke Hai Kaun.
7. Iravati Harshe as Dr. Smriti Malhotra
She played Dr. Smriti, an honest companion to Dr. Shashank. She also raised his daughter, while struggling to deal with the issues in her personal life. Post the show, Iravati has appeared in movies like Mithya, Hate Story and Atsu.
8. Sudhanshu Pandey
Sudhanshu Pandey played a cameo in the serial, that of Dr. Smriti’s daughter’s stepfather, Vishal Kapoor. He is a popular actor and has been a part of many successful films like Singh Is Kinng and Singham. His last venture on television was Tamanna and Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat.
9. Shilpa Shinde
Shilpa Shinde portrayed the role of Chitra, who is in love with Dr. Omi. She is best known as Angoori bhabi, her role in the hit show Bhabhiji Ghar Pe Hain and will also be seen in an item song with Rishi Kapoor in Patel Ki Punjabi Shadi.
10. Vikram Gokhale
He played Dr. Simran’s father, supporting her as she created trouble in Rahul and Juhi’s life. Vikram Gokhale is a seasoned actor and has done some memorable roles in Hindi cinema. His last film was Traffic with Manoj Bajpai.
