What’s not to love about the ’90s? It was the era of the Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys, of Full House and Friends and Small Wonder, remember that? And so many more, but it was also the golden era of cartoons, IMHO. From Dexter’s Laboratory and The Flintstones to The Jetsons and Johnny Bravo! So, when we first laid eyes on Sonali Pamnani‘s newest collection titled ’90s Baby, you can only imagine the kind of feels that overtook us. Her label, The Meraki Project has since its conception been offbeat, quirky and fun and this collection was no different. It was a definitive ode to her childhood (and ours too!) and we loved all of it. She used laser cut technique on different pieces that are individually hand sewn onto the garment next to one another (like a puzzle) to make an entire cartoon. Take a look at some of the fun pieces here and take a walk down memory lane.

About the inspiration behind the collection Sonali said,
One of my fondest memories of the 90s were the cartoons. I remember the days when cellular phones, play stations, and other technological distractions did not exist. As children, we would run home from school, drop our backpacks, grab a snack and plonk in front of the TV to catch our favourite shows. Humming the tune ofThe Jetsons, watching Dexter sneak into his laboratory while Deedee pranced around driving him mad, loving The Addams Family tune no matter how creeped out I got with the cartoon and being forever amazed by Johnny Bravo’s endless love affairs although they were mainly with himself – these are some of the fondest memories I had as a kid, and through this collection I want to share my love of cartoons with everyone
Now that that’s done, can someone hit rewind already?
