Vir Das is controversy’s favourite child and has always been in the news for tackling relevant issues. He’s back in the spotlight again, this time ranting about Twitterati’s attitude towards author, Shobha De.
We recently told you about Shobha De‘s insensitive jibe about the Indian Olympics team. Clearly, the author was proven wrong, giving the tweeple a chance to lash out at her. Looks like all the hate tweets did not go down too well with Vir, who in turn, tweeted this:
Not a fan of Shobha De.
Not a fan of people tweeting about celebrating female athletes while being abusive towards female authors either.— Vir Das (@thevirdas) August 21, 2016
His tweet was met with a lot of criticism. To which he responded:
All I’m saying is this. Don’t dilute the tremendous praise an athlete deserves by coupling it with your desire to troll a snarky author.

When someone called him a hypocrite and pointed out his offensive dialogue towards women in Delhi Belly, he tweeted:
Yes. But I’m not walking around saying it to Olympic athletes Numbnuts. That would be creepy…like your tweet. https://t.co/94EPY9afKG

He further went on to say that he’s waiting for the day when India understands the difference between what an actor says in reality and in a movie.
