You can tell the favourites at any fashion week by the size of the crowd outside the doors before any given show. By that assessment, it’s safe to say that Gaurav Gupta is one popular gent! Not only was it a full house, there were still people outside struggling to get in just before the show started. No kidding! And then it began! Gaurav’s garments always seem to have this futuristic vibe. Be it in construction, structure or draping, it always looks like it’s just ahead of the curve. The pastel shades of lavender, off-white, cherry and blue were made all the more gorgeous with the use of genuine Swarovski crystals that added some bling to the light hues.

The multi-layered skirts, draped saris, jackets and sari-lehengas all swished and swooshed down the runway, all the while glistening as the light caught it at different points. Another classic Gaurav Gupta touch is the sculpted fit of his garments that he achieves through techniques like boning so that it’s construction of the silhouette is contemporary and modern! His showstopper Saiyami Kher with her wild child waves looked absolutely stunning in a blue gown that we cannot help but imagine ourselves in. Day dreams, amirite?
The show was so amazing that we almost didn’t want day 4 at FDCI presents India Couture Week 2016 to end. But obviously it had to, so we’re just going to have to make do with this video on loop.
