Female friendship is so important in every girl’s life, but in movies and TV shows, if there are two women in the story, they’re very often pitted against each other. While it might work sometimes (because who doesn’t love drama?), this whole perception of women not getting along or having ‘cat-fights’ is not true all the time. Thankfully we have some amazing instances of girls being best friends. Check them out!
1) Blair – Serena (Gossip Girl)
Gossip Girl might have gone completely bonkers after season 3, but the show’s strength definitely lies in Blair and Serena‘s enduring friendship. These girls were there for each other even when their parents or boyfriends weren’t. Sorry Chuck and Dan, but Serena and Blair loved each other more than they loved you guys.
2) Christina – Meredith (Grey’s Anatomy)
The brilliant, practical and sarcastic Christina was the perfect foil to the dark, twisted and often whiny Meredith. The twisted sisters from Grey’s Anatomy were hands down the best part about this show.
3) Naina – Aditi (Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani)
I have a few problems with Kabir and Naina‘s love story, but Naina and Aditi‘s friendship was perfect! The two might be very different in appearance and decisions, but their core was the same and that’s what friendship is all about, isn’t it?
4) The women in Angry Indian Goddesses
Best girls! Please watch this movie if you haven’t already.
5) The ladies in Sisterhood Of The Travelling Pants
Carmen, Tibby, Bridget, and Lena are the best friends every girl would want in her life. The nicest part is that these women are best friends in real life as well and they recently reunited, giving us hopes for a third movie in the series!
6) Monica, Rachel and Phoebe (FRIENDS)
Everyone talks about Joey and Chandler‘s friendship and Rachel and Ross‘s relationship, but you cannot undermine the friendship the girls of F.R.I.E.N.D.S have. I mean do you remember their brilliant teamwork in the episode where they have to buy Monica’s wedding dress?
7) Veronica and Meera (Cocktail)
At least it was perfect till Gautam came and ruined it all.
8) Tanu and Payal (Tanu Weds Manu)
The straightforward Payal is the only one who can shut the batshit crazy Tanu up, something only a best friend has the authority to do.
9) Rani and Vijaylaxmi (Queen)
Vijiyalaxmi came into Rani‘s life at the perfect time. The otherwise co-dependent and shy Rani blossomed under this Vijay’s guidance and realized that she doesn’t need a man (the male Vijay) in her life to feel fulfilled.
10) The girls from GIRLS
This show is completely mental, but really really nice. It’s one of the most realistic portrayal of friends.
11) Our idols in Sex and the City
This needs no elaboration.
12) Max and Caroline in Two Broke Girls
It’s so funny! Caroline is totally the yin to Max‘s yang, and despite their constant ribbing, they’re such good friends who support each other at all times. It’s perfect.
