Earlier, when Salman Khan made the comments about feeling “like a raped woman” while undergoing grueling preparations for Sultan, Salim Khan took to Twitter to apologise for the remarks. Many people have been calling for Salman to say that he’s sorry, but the actor has thus far not issued an apology regarding the statement.
Now, however, Salim Khan has said that he issued the apology because he hoped it would put an end to the matter. Instead, he feels like the media has taken this issue to “saturation point.”
Here’s what he said:
Almost sounds like he regrets apologising. And nah, an apology shouldn’t be given to “get rid of the problem” or to hope that it “would be over” – an apology should be given because it was a comment made in poor taste, whether intentionally or not.
It’s one thing to slip up and say something that’s offensive because you didn’t think through your statement properly; it’s quite another to refuse to acknowledge that your remark was hurtful, even if you didn’t intend it that way.
What are your thoughts?
