Shirish Kunder, who recently released the well-received Kriti, faced legal issues when Nepali filmmaker Aneel Neupane accused him of “practically stealing the plot” of his film Bob. In his notice, Neupane said that Bob was ready in October of 2015 and was uploaded to Vimeo as a private video to share with a few friends, and then released on May 12th, 2016 on YouTube. Kriti, on the other hand, was shot in February 2016 and released on June 22nd.
Kunder, however, has sent Neupane a legal notice saying that he “could not have obtained a copy” of Bob, but that since the script of Kriti was available to a few people, it was instead possible that Neupane got a copy and made Bob around that. Kunder is now asking that Neupane give him an unconditional written apology, remove Bob from the Internet immediately and refrain from uploading it on any other medium.
Hmm!
