In eastern cultures, brides opt for colours like red, maroon, pick etc as they symbolize auspiciousness. And in the west, brides opt for white dresses as white stands for purity of the soul. This trend caught on during the Victorian era after Queen Victoria wore a white lace dress at her wedding. But it isn’t 19th century anymore and the women of 21st century never shy away from breaking the stereotypes.
Popular Australian blogger, Sophie Cachia skipped the traditional white gown and walked the isle in a beautiful black fishtail dressed. Designed by Anthony Montesano, her outfit is simply stunning. She wrote about her decision to wear black on her blog:
Most girls dream of the day when it’s their turn to scroll Pinterest and shop windows for that white dress…The thing was though, I never saw myself in those white dresses… It (black) is classic. It looks good on just about everyone. It’s bold, it’s sexy, it’s daring. I don’t really see it as a bold choice, or taking a risk. I simply see it as me wearing exactly what I wanted to on my wedding day, not what I thought I had to wear.
Here are some gorgeous photos from her d-day!

A bride who wears black and eats pizza and ice cream on her wedding day – how cool is that? About the wedding, she has mentioned in her blog,
Our wedding’ was simply a big party bash, where we served pizza and paella, sacked the wedding cake for a Mr. Whippy Van instead and served a Cachia favourite of Ouzo all night.
Wow.
