It’s a sad state of affairs in Bollywood. Our “heroes” are getting older and older, but our “heroines” aren’t allowed to age a day. Richa Chadha, who is constantly giving us reasons to love her, is known to wear her heart on her sleeve and is not one of those actors who try and mince their words.
In a recent interview to Anupama Chopra for Film Companion, Richa opened up about how because she did Gangs Of Wasseypur the perception about her was that she’s keen on doing only ‘older parts’ in the movies or characters that required her to curse or playing people from rural backgrounds. Obviously, none of it was true! But the talented actress revealed that she knew shit had hit the ceiling when she was offered the role of Hrithik Roshan‘s mother in Agneepath. Mind you, she was about 25 years old at the time!
I got a random call from a random casting director, who hadn’t even seen Gangs, he knew what I looked like… but they called me to play something really ridiculous… Hrithik Roshan’s mother in Agneepath! I was like do you know what I look like? I’m just going to take a photo and send it to you. Don’t do this to me! And they were like ‘nahi, humne suna hai aap Nawaz ki mummy ka role kar rahi hain’ and I was like oh my God!
