Ikai by Ragini Ahuja
Kick-starting day 4 on a high note, Ikai returned to the runway with Ragini Ahuja‘s technically strong and detailed line up. Animal art still forms the base of the collection and is interpreted with some beautiful thread texture work and tape-art appliqué. Leather and fringes added another layer to the collection but Ahuja rounded the entire show against a military style story, which is always an attractive direction.

ILK by Shikha & Vinita
These girls are always up to to some cool sh*t. The earth forms the starting point of the collection and is represented with an art form that uses dots to create an illusion of pixefation. While easy every day dressing forms the label’s backbone, it was the closing sari worn with a turtle neck that gave it an aesthetically sound finish.

Lovebirds
If you ever meet Gursi & Amrita of Lovebirds, you know exactly what sets the backbone of this beautiful label. Their collections have always been clean and stripped of all the fuss. Easy, straight-forward and no intellectual bullsh*t. Keeping up to their own beat, this autumn winter collection presented easy-to-please winter-wear in their trademark oversized snuggle style.
BODICE by Ruchika Sachedva
Never the one to shout out but yet she manages to stand apart. Bodice’s autumn winter collection presented the label in an ultra soft, feminine direction yet keeping her sharp tailoring strength as the prime focus of the clothes. Our favourite was the vertical striped skirt that had lines dissolving into one another as the model glided past us.
EKA
Polka dots, checks and warm fabrics that spell comfort wear for a winter’s day – That’s Eka AW’16 in a nut-shell and they served it straight up with no distractions.
Anavila
If you ever wish to understand and appreciate the beauty of hand-loom and Indian fabrics, Anavila Misra is your go-to girl. Not only did she display her range as a designer but her collection presented the versatility of Indian textiles in a contemporary palette.

Ashima Leela
How does one beautifully represent an old world charm in a new context with being ostentatious about it? Ashima –Leela’s showcase at AIFW AW’16 was a precise representation of that exact thought.

Mandira Wirk
Here’s what I’ve learnt about the jet-setting fashionista – She is fussy, especially when cornered to dress ‘Indian’. #Fact
But Mandira Wirk has found the trick between the tradition and the trendsetting. That’s exactly what her collection embodied. And as if to prove the point, Malaika Arora Khan sizzled across the runway, working her trademark strut and the result was dark magic.

The collection was called Noor and represented the shy nature of an old era. Beautiful badla, mokaish and chikankari formed the core of the collection with tiny pearl embellishments adding a strong detailed layer to it all.

This girl truly represents a side of Indian fashion that’s fun, girly, fuss-free and full of love. But alongside, it’s detailed, aesthetically strong and impeccably presented. This season, she created a live classroom with models and showcased warm, cozy clothing for winter but with a touch of child-like innocence – An innocence that we seem to have lost or side-lined over the years.

Namrata Joshipura
And closing the day was the queen of the dazzle, Namrata Joshipura. If you could describe the modern global Indian girl; she would be fierce, fast-thinking and fabulously put together but on her own terms. That’s what Joshipura paraphrased through an entirely captivating collection filled with dangerously low necklines, sheer sequinned gowns and a hint of the sports-wear luxe (which comes from the designer’s love for running). Closing the show was Maybelline India’s face and an all-round hottie, Athiya Shetty, who simply worked her look like there’s no tomorrow. Read more on it, here.
